![]() OCTO COMPACT Your Soft Water Solution The Octo Compact is the only water conditioner able to adapt to any water quality, a must within the yachting industry, where every port supplies water treated and sourced from different locations, with widely varying hardness contents. With a simple to use test kit (provided) and the turn of a screw the Octo Compact is the only system which can be re-calibrated in minutes, and which will deliver over 6,868 gallons (26000 liters) per day of soft conditioned water from every source. Due to the unique nature of the Octo Compact its salt consumption is less than that of any other conditioner currently available, reducing the need to carry huge stocks of softener salt. What is hard water It is called "hard" if it contains a lot of calcium in the form of Calcium carbonate (CaCo3) or magnesium dissolved in it. Hard water causes two main problems: It can cause "scale" to form on paint work and fittings after a wash down, or inside of the vessels water heater, pipe work, ice and coffee makers and any other equipment that uses water. The calcium and magnesium precipitate out forming a crystalline structure and adhere to any surface they come into contact with; this process is further heightened when the water is heated. The formation of scale acts as a form of insulation causing heating elements to over heat and bur out, it also reduces water flow as the inner pipe wall quickly builds up layer upon later of scale, blocking shower heads and in some cases the pipes themselves. It reacts with soap to form a scum or a curd, and also reduces the soap's the soap's ability to lather and clean, meaning more soap has to be used to be effective. Therefore, in order to remove the damaging calcium and magnesium, a water softener is required. Specifications Connection - - - - - - - -
